TIGS: Travel Industry Golf Society hosted a Golf Day yesterday in the The Heritage Golf Club as a memorial for the late Robbie Smart.
The event was hosted by Shannon Airport and was attended by lots of travel trade figures, as well as Robbie’s Dad, two brothers and other friends and family.
GTI, Island Marketing, Travelbiz and Bookabed sponsored the par 3’s for nearest the pin. There were over 30 prizes donated by Shannon Airport and other travel trade and there was a raffle on the day.
The event was played as a Champagne Scramble and the winners were:
4th Place – Team Cassidy Travel (James Fleming, Paul Kelly, Conor Devers and Adam Lambert) 79.05 points
3rd Place – Dermot Merrigan, PJ Brennan, David O’Hagan and Peter O’Hanlon 78.2 points
2nd Place – Dave Smith, Bill Smith, Noel McAuliffe, Martin Penrose with 76.8 points
1st Place – Christy Smart, Michael Coughlan, Angelo O’Connor, Colm Murphy with 73.5 points
The golf day was followed by a dinner and prize giving ceremony. Marian Benton, TIGS Captain paid tribute to Robbie and thanked the trade for its support, including Dave Conlon and Maurice Shiels for organising the event.
The total amount raised from the event will be announced in the coming days.
