Agency Manager to Own Business

A renowned travel professional, Navan-based Katrina McMullan started her journey with Travel Counsellors back in October 2019. With over 20 years’ experience in the travel industry, she made the decision to leave her agency manager role and took the next step in owning her career. Despite the pandemic, she is now on her way to becoming one of Ireland’s top performing Travel Counsellors, earning more than ever before.

Asked about making the big change, Katrina shares; “My biggest concern was that I would feel isolated running my own business. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Knowing there is always someone there at the other end of the phone when I need help or reassurance is great and no issue is ever too big or small for the support team, both in Cork and the UK.”

“I’m also never alone! The friendships I have made in the short time that I have been here are very special. If COVID has given me one gift professionally, it was the ability to get to know so many other Travel Counsellors that I now consider to be great friends.”

Asked about giving advice to other industry professionals Katrina replied, “Make sure you ask all the right questions and that it will suit your lifestyle. I had preconceived ideas of what Travel Counsellors was all about and once I sat down and talked to those involved, I don’t mind admitting – I was wrong! I did quite a lot of research into Travel Counsellors before reaching out as I felt the experience that I gained from my previous roles would help me build a successful and profitable business.”

She adds; If you are thinking of making the move or just have a few questions about how we run our businesses, any Travel Counsellor, including myself would be happy to sit down and talk open, honestly, and confidentially about our experience.”
