Holiday Enquiries Good, Bookings Still Cautious
Irish travel agents and suppliers are generally pleased with the level of holiday enquiries to date and bookings are on a par or slightly up on last year – but low deposit levels, payment plans and really good value are proving to be key factors in clinching sales.
Compared to this time last year, travel agents countrywide are more positive about the prospects for summer sun holiday bookings, with enquiry levels quite high. Whereas people may not have taken a holiday last year, many seem determined to take one this year – even if it's a one-week short-haul holiday – but they have still to be cautious about how they will pay for it. Consequently agents offering phased payments are likely to benefit. Meanwhile, corporate travel bookings are buoyant and are expected to continue to increase as they did in 2011. Read more >>>

Emirates President Envisages Double-Daily on Dublin - Dubai
As reported on www.ittn.ie on Monday 9th January, when Emirates commenced its three-class A330-200 daily Dublin – Dubai service, the airline's bookings are producing 90+% load factors for the first few months and a B777 may be introduced "fairly soon" and quicker than the planned 18 months time – but President Tim Clark also referred to going double-daily.
"Most of our European routes have gone double-daily within three to four years," he said. "There are approximately 80,000 people of Irish descent in Australia, a key market for Emirates, and more than 70 passengers on the 237-seat inaugural flight came from bookings in Australia. In addition, there are around 5,000 Irish nationals in the UAE." Read more >>>
