Yes, this Friday 25th November heralds the inaugural Irish Travel Industry Christmas Party at the Burlington Hotel, Dublin 4. Here we reveal the identities of the three finalists in the inaugural Irish Travel Industry Entrepreneur of the Year Award – one of whom will be presented with the Award during the Christmas Party.

Entrepreneur of the Year Award Finalists

CarTrawler, Club Travel, and Clubs to Hire have been chosen by the Association of Foreign Airlines, the Irish Tour Operators Federation and Irish Travel Trade News as the three short-listed finalists for the inaugural Irish Travel Industry Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

The above three shortlisted nominees have completed a brief questionnaire prepared by independent chair Grant Thornton and these submissions have been separately judged, using an agreed weighted scoring system, by the three partner organisations, AFA, ITOF and ITTN.

CAR Invites Comments on Future Format for Regulatory Accounts Proposals

In November 2011, the Commission for Aviation Regulation commenced a review of the format of regulatory accounts that the Irish Aviation Authority and Dublin Airport Authority prepare. The CAR indicated in April 2011 that it intended to review the format, and would advise parties of any planned changes in advance of implementation. The Commission has now published its proposals, which represent a change for both the IAA and the DAA, and invites parties to comment on them by 30th November 2011.

In the case of the DAA, the proposed changes mean that future regulatory accounts will include additional information. For the IAA, the CAR proposes ending the requirement that it provides regulatory accounts, subject to the IAA providing the more detailed information about terminal costs currently required under the Single European Skies charging regulations.

Travel Centres held a very successful Suppliers Workshop at the Clarion Hotel, IFSC, Dublin, last Tuesday, when some 60 members held scheduled 15-minute 'speed dates' with the consortium's preferred suppliers.
