ITOF Calls on Aer Lingus to Remove Claim from Website
Earlier this month the Aer Lingus website began offering what it describes as "cheap holidays – holiday deals" under the banner of "The Complete Holiday Solution with Aer Lingus". This comprises online booking of sun holidays, city breaks, escorted holidays and cruise holidays from ClickandGo.com and TheTravelDepartment.ie. The ClickandGo.com section claims as one reason to book: "25% cheaper than charter tour operators". Read more >>>

BA and Qantas to Restructure London – Australia Flights
Under a restructured British Airways / Qantas Joint Services Agreement, from early 2012 Qantas will cease to fly from Bangkok and Hong Kong to London, but will continue to serve these cities from Australia and will also continue Airbus A380 services from Melbourne and Sydney to London via Singapore, as well as constructing a new premium lounge at Changi International Airport. Cathay Pacific CEO Comments on Cockpit Photographs
Responding to the recent publication of photographs of two people having oral sex in a cockpit, John Slosar, Chief Executive of Cathay Pacific Airways, has said: "I can confirm that two members of our crew shown in compromising situations in photographs published recently in Chinese-language daily newspapers are no longer employees of the company. I can also report that we have found no evidence to suggest that the incidents happened on any of our flights while airborne. Read more >>>

Etihad Launches Flights to East Africa
Etihad Airways has announced the start of flights to Nairobi, its first destination in East Africa. A daily service from Abu Dhabi to Nairobi will begin on 1st April 2012, operated by a two-class A320 aircraft with 16 Pearl Business Class and 120 Coral Economy Class seats. Read more >>>

Liberty Island to Remain Open While Stature of Liberty Gets One-Year-Long Renovation
New York's iconic Statue of Liberty will remain open through to 28th October 2011, its 125th anniversary when the celebrations will include music and special tours and programmes. The next day all interior spaces of the Statue of Liberty will close for approximately one year while upgrades are made to the 125-year-old pedestal and the 200-year-old fort base from which the statue rises – but Liberty Island will remain open.
