Chinese-owned Tibet Airlines, which operated its maiden flight from Lhasa Gonggar Airport to Ngari Ali Khuna Airport on Tuesday, plans to serve key cities in China next year, to begin services to south-east and south Asia in 2013, and to operate direct routes to Europe within four or five years.
The airline, which was established in May 2010, currently has only one aircraft, an Airbus A319, but plans to have up to 20 aircraft by 2015. Chinese State-owned Tibet Investment Company owns 51% of the carrier.
