Passengers Departing Dublin Airport Urged to Continually Check Flight Status as Cold Snap Forces Some Cancellations

Passengers departing Dublin Airport this weekend have been urged to continually check their flight status due to the worsening cold weather conditions.

Met Éireann has put in place a Status Orange weather warning – forecasting extreme low temperatures and severe icy conditions – for much of the country, including the east coast covering the remainder of the weekend and well into Monday.

Nearly 70 flights due to leave Dublin were cancelled on Friday night, with 74 inbound flights cancelled due to the weather. The cold snap also saw another 23 outbound and 27 inbound flights cancelled this morning.

In a statement, Aer Lingus said: “We plan to operate almost all flights this weekend as scheduled. We continue to monitor the weather conditions throughout the weekend but wish to reassure our customers that our teams are doing all they can to minimise any disruption to their travel plans.

“We advise customers to check their flight status on our website before travelling to the airport. Any customers impacted by disruptions will be notified and advised of their options. We apologise to any customers whose travels have been impacted.”

Ryanair said:Due to ongoing icy weather conditions, Ryanair advises all customers flying from Dublin Airport (10 Dec) to check the Ryanair website/app for flight status updates before travelling to the Airport.

Our teams are working hard to minimise any disruption caused to our customers as a result of these severe weather conditions, which are entirely beyond our control, and we sincerely apologise to affected customers for any inconvenience caused.

The Daa – which operates both Dublin and Cork airports – said that Dublin Airport remains fully open and operational.

It added: “However, as a knock-on from the issues faced by airlines yesterday, a number of flights have been cancelled. Passengers are advised to check with their airline for the latest information regarding their flight.”
