Vietnam’s Big Jump: International Visitors’ Searches Surge

Vietnam seems to be on an upward swing with its travel and tourism industry on a bullet train to the recovery route.

This, according to a report from the Google Destination Insights – which says that international visitors’ searches for Vietnam’s airlines and tourist accommodations show the highest growth rate worldwide.

As per the report, from December 2021, the search volume of international tourists for Vietnam’s airlines and tourist accommodation establishments has increased by over 75%, the highest globally. Countries like Chile, Bulgaria, New Zealand and Sri Lanka are ranking behind Vietnam with a growth rate from 25% to 75%.

The Vietnamese website was ranked 458,550th in 2021.

Currently, it finishes fourth in Southeast Asia, behind Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand.

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), the improvement highlights the attractiveness of Vietnamese tourism in the eyes of international travelers, as well as the effectiveness of the communication campaign carried out by the country.

The website’s traffic over the first 10 months of the year hit four million, significantly higher than in both 2021, 1.9 million, and 2020, 1.7 million. What was important to note was the fact that the website traffic in September reached 384,900, four times higher compared to the same period last year.

So where are the most site visits coming from? International markets account for 88.25%, and the major chunk is made up of site visits from United States, India, Australia, Canada, Japan, Germany, UK, and Brazil. The report also provides insight into the most searched Vietnamese destinations, and these are: Saigon, Da Lat, Phu Quoc, Vung Tau, Nha Trang, Hanoi, Phan Thiet, Da Nang, Hoi An and Quy Nhon.

Certainly good news for a nation that had been closed for about two years because of the pandemic. However, it has always been in the news, especially with it making it to several international lists – like the 20 most worth-visiting destinations (according to Wanderlust), most romantic destinations in the world (Hoi An) according to Time Out, and many others.

It seems like Vietnam’s stunning white sandy beaches, buzzing cities and spectacular countryside offers something for everyone. For more insights into travel deals and what Vietnam can offer to international tourists, have a look here.
