Azores, northern Greece, Bulgaria, Scotland and Wales Ranked Among Most Underrated Holiday Destinations

The Azores, Northern Greece, Scotland and Wales have been voted some of the most underrated holiday destinations in a survey conducted by World Travel Market (WTM).

The destinations were voted for by leading travel industry executives as part of WTM London’s 2022 Industry Report.

Some 14.5% of respondents voted the Azores as the most underrated. It was closely followed by Northern Greece, which often gets overlooked in popularity by the south of the country and the Greek islands.

Greece has extended its holiday period past summer and has benefitted with visitor numbers strongly on the rise. The Azores has reached a 5-year high, in terms of visitor numbers, with more than 250,000 landing this year so far.

Bulgaria, Estonia, Scotland and Wales also made the list.

The top-10 most underrated destinations, according to the survey, are:

Azores (14.5%)
Northern Greece (14%)
Bulgaria (10%)
Scotland (10%)
Estonia (9.5%)
Netherlands (9%)

Sicily (9%)
Slovenia (9%)
Wales (8%)
Bratislava (7%)
