Around-the-block queues for galleries and museums. Waiting in line for the next big food trend. Tightly packed trains, planes, buses and trams… European cities are traditionally chockablock in autumn as travellers lower their expectations for guaranteed sunshine to plug into the energy and cultural touchpoints of a metropolis instead.
But these are Covid times, which means many cities – and many holidaymakers – are still making tentative steps into reopening. Some capitals have bounced back and are again buzzing, while others are offering packages to help increase headcount.
