London City Wins ACI Europe ‘Best Airport’ Award

London City Airport, “the only London airport actually in London”, has won the Airports Council International Europe ‘Best Airport 1 – 5 Million Passengers’ Award at the 8th annual ACI Europe Awards.

The announcement was made at the ACI Europe Annual Congress in Madrid.

ACI Europe counts around 400 airports in 46 European countries among its membership and this year’s competition saw a high level of competition.

This year’s judging panel was drawn from a well-respected group of independent experts including ACI Asia Pacific, EuroControl, ECAC and the Disabled People’s Association (Denmark). The judges awarded the 1-5 million passenger prize to LCY for its austerity-defying strong traffic growth, but also in recognition of its service quality delivery and in particular for its ultra-efficient ‘door-to-gate’ passenger processing times.

Declan Collier, Chief Executive of London City Airport, collected the award from Oliver Jankovec, Director General, ACI Europe, and said he was delighted that the airport’s hard work, determination and commitment has been recognised.

“We have put a lot of hard work and considerable investment into delivering what we call the 20/10 proposition – a 20-minute check-in from door to gate, and a 10-minute arrival, from tarmac to train – and it’s great to have that appreciated by our peers in the industry.

“We pride ourselves on the service we deliver to our customers – and to their customers, the passengers – and we continue to strive to improve, by focusing on the passenger journey and ensuring we deliver exactly what the passenger wants and needs at every step of their journey.”
