New Nokia App and Adventure Website at TTM+ 2012 in Bangkok

The Tourism Authority of Thailand will be launching a new Nokia Thailand mobile app and a new website for adventure activities at this year’s Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2012 trade fair, which will highlight the variety of tourism products, experiences and attractions the Kingdom offers under the theme ‘Customise Your Experience’. TTM+ 2012, which will take place at the Impact Exhibition Centre in Bangkok from 6th – 8th June, will see over 330 international buyers meeting with more than 380 Thai sellers of tourism products and services.

“We are looking forward to a highly successful event, with more than 80 buyers from European countries, over 40 buyers from the USA and Canada, and about 35 buyers from Australia and New Zealand,” said Suraphon Svetasreni, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand. “We will also welcome many new buyers from emerging markets including Eastern Europe, the CIS Countries, the Middle East and South America.”

TTM+ 2012 is focusing on four key tourism categories, which are golf, ecotourism, weddings & honeymoons, and health & wellness. Thai tourism products and services in these categories have experienced tremendous growth over the past few years, and this trend is expected to continue in the future, especially among repeat visitors, who account for about 60% of all international arrivals to Thailand.

“The TAT will also continue to demonstrate our support for intra-regional travel at TTM+ 2012,” added Governor Suraphon. “We will welcome several NTOs from the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) including Bhutan, China’s Yunnan and Guangxi provinces, Cambodia, Laos PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam. When combined with all that Thailand has to offer, TTM+ 2012 will be a great opportunity for global tour operators to see the GMS’s immense potential as a destination with an unmatched variety of experiences and attractions for their clients.”

Nokia Mobile Application

Meanwhile, TAT and Nokia Thailand have introduced ‘The New Amazing Thailand’ mobile application and a new game ‘Thailand Racing by Smile Land’ for Nokia smartphones that run the Windows Phone operating system.

The Augmented Reality (AR) feature allows travellers to instantly access details and information of things and places around them. The QR code scanning capability offers tourists an ability to get travel info quickly. The Interactive Map provides tourists with travelling routes to a number of interesting destinations. The Search and Filter options let users find tourist info that best suit their interests.

‘The New Amazing Thailand’ mobile application is now available on Nokia Lumia 900, 800, 710, and 610, which have already been distributed to various stores in Thailand.

100 Unforgettable Experiences

In addition, adventure travellers in Thailand can now log on to a new website, adventure.tourismthailand.org.

The website covers adventure travel opportunities in 33 Thai provinces. The dual-language Thai-English website categorises all activities by theme and colour, so that they can be easily found either by category or by province.
