Emirates, which earlier announced that it would upgrade the aircraft operating its daily Dublin – Dubai route to a Boeing 777 from 1st July, has quietly introduced it to the schedule since yesterday – just four months after the route was inaugurated on 9th January!
The reason for the ‘quiet launch’ could not be confirmed, but the planned introduction on 1st July is to be with a B777-300 with eight private suites in First Class, whereas for some dates in May/June the service looks to be with a B777-200, which has 12 flat-bed Sky Cruiser seats in First Class.
The 12 sky cruiser seats in first class are still featured on our older 777-300’s, The current schedule shows a mixture of 770-300 cabin configs being dispatched to Dublin, a very positive development to the route in terms of passenger comfort.
Thanks for the clarification, John. As well as passenger comfort development, the change also brings increased capacity, of course. The Dublin-Dubai route launch has certainly been an interesting and fast-developing one!
Indeed a very interesting route launch. Who knows, we may even see an A380 some day!
Is there something I should know about??!!
Sadly not!! A double daily service is more likely to be the next step for Dubai – Dublin. 😉
