CAR Revokes Travel Agent Licence of Bookandgo.ie

On 9th August the Commission for Aviation Regulation revoked the travel agent licence of Hotelitrip Ltd, trading as bookandgo.ie, for failing to comply with some conditions of its licence. In a separate development, the Betabeds bed bank is the close at the end of August.

This means that the company must refrain from selling packages involving overseas travel leaving Ireland.  The company is, however, entitled to fulfil all existing bookings and to continue to sell other types of tourist services. Any customers with queries should contact the company directly.

Betabeds

Meanwhile, the Truly Travel-owned trade-only bed bank Betabeds, which started operating in Ireland just last November, is to close down at the end of August.

The brand was started in the UK in April last year by B2C Alpharooms, which was acquired by the Truly Travel group in October 2016.

A statement from Truly Travel said: “Following the purchase and takeover of Alpharooms last year by Truly Travel Ltd, the decision has been taken to close down the B2B trade arm of the business known as Betabeds in order to focus on our direct B2C strategy. Any forward bookings with Betabeds will now be fulfilled by Alpharooms and bookings remain secure and unaffected.”
