Indian Carriers Address Financial Problems

National carrier Air India has asked the government for almost €1 billion in State aid, while private full-service airline Kingfisher has cancelled 50 loss-making flights, is phasing out low-cost subsidiary Kingfisher Red and plans a financial restructure, and Jet Airways wants to convert rupee-dominated loans into US dollar debt. Low-cost carrier IndiGo is currently India’s only profitable airline.
