Milestone Week for Jet2.com and Jet2holidays

Last week was a major milestone in Northern Ireland for Jet2.com and Jet2holidays with the very first flights jetting off from Belfast International Airport to Rome on Thursday 2nd April and Prague on Friday 3rd April. Jet2.com Rome and Prague

The inaugural flights, the only direct services to these cities from Northern Ireland, marked the start of the biggest year to date for the leisure airline and package holiday specialist – 2015 sees the introduction of a third dedicated aircraft and five new routes, with flights to Gran Canaria, Verona and Zante also due to commence over the coming weeks, and 18 holiday hotspots to choose from.

The new Rome flights will depart twice weekly from 2nd April until 1st November 2015, with up to three weekly flights to Prague operating between 3rd April 2015 and 4th January 2016. Fares start from £31 one way, including taxes, with city breaks from £169 per person.

“This really is a momentous week in what is going to be a milestone year for us in Northern Ireland,” said Steve Heapy, Chief Executive. “As the UK’s third largest tour operator, we are already one of the biggest travel companies operating out of Northern Ireland and we continue to expand with our five new destinations this year, so it’s fantastic to see the first of these new routes take to the skies this week.

“Rome and Prague are fabulous and exciting cities that are not available through any other operator. I am sure they will be very popular with local holidaymakers and it is great to see that both of our inaugural flights are almost sold out.”

Graham Keddie, Managing Director, Belfast International Airport, added: “This is a very significant week for Jet2.com and Jet2holidays and also for Belfast International Airport, with the launch of Rome and Prague as new destinations, representing up to five additional departures from the airport every week.

“It is wonderful to see how Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have expanded over the years. We are delighted to work in partnership with such a progressive company and we look forward to working closely together in the future to give Northern Ireland holidaymakers the best possible choice from Belfast International Airport.”
