DFA Issues Warning about Travel to Kenya after terrorist attacks

The Department of Foreign Affairs has issued a warning about travel to Kenya.dfalogo

There have been  twin bomb blasts at Gikomba Market in the capital, Nairobi, have resulted in at least 10 deaths and up to 70 wounded.

They advise against all but essential travel to the Eastleigh area of Nairobi as there has been a spate of grenade attacks here and further attacks are likely. They also advise against all but essential travel to low-income areas of Nairobi, including all township or slum areas, where crime levels are high.

They advise against all but essential travel within 60km of the Somali border and to the Garissa district and coastal areas north of Pate Island and Kiwayu where Western tourists have been attacked and kidnapped from beach front properties.

Similaar warnings have been issued by the UK Foreign Office and by the United States State Department.
