Cork Airport and Tourism Flanders

Cork Airport recently hosted a travel industry event in association with Tourism Flanders and Aer Lingus. The event provided travel trade professionals and travel media with an overview of what the Flanders region of Northern Belgium has to offer the global leisure traveller.Visit Flanders Event- Cork Airport
At the event were Andrew Daines, Tourism Flanders Director, UK and Ireland; Lisa Thomas, Travel Trade Manager, Tourism Flanders; Dominic Daly, Royal Belgian Honorary Consulate; Ivan Beacom, Aer Lingus Sales Manager; and Kevin Cullinane, Head of Communications, Cork Airport.
Aer Lingus operates twice weekly flights from Cork Airport to Brussels, giving business and leisure travellers direct access to this popular destination at the heart of Europe.

  1. I have to say I am still flabbergasted that there are no direct flights from Cork to either Dusseldorf or Frankfurt.

Several years ago these flights were in operation. There is a large population of German people in Cork; it is also a very popular destination for German tourists. Not to mention that there is no direct connection to the industrial and financial heart of Europe respectively.

Surely it is high time for Aer Lingus to evaulate operating a twice weekly service alternating between Dusseldorf and Frankfurt?
