The latest tourism-focused round-up from the Middle East fallout sees a mix of travel insurance advice, an increased level of repatriation flights and a limited opening up of new commercial flights.

MSC Cruises has confirmed repatriation flights for more than 1,500 passengers currently onboard its MSC Euribia ship in Dubai. A total of seven of the flights departed the region as of this morning, with passengers returning to the UK, US, Italy, Germany, Spain and Brazil.

Etihad Airways has announced a limited resumption of commercial flights – from today – between Abu Dhabi and a number of destinations (including Dublin). Guests with previous bookings will be accommodated first and foremost but new bookings are also being taken. Etihad, however, is constantly monitoring the safety of the situation.

Emirates has said that following the partial re-opening of regional airspace, it is operating a reduced flight schedule while working to restore full network operations. The airline anticipates a return to 100% of its network within the coming days, subject to airspace availability and the fulfilment of all operational requirements. Emirates carried around 30,000 passengers out of Dubai on Thursday and by tomorrow (Saturday) the Dubai-based carrier will have 106 return daily flights operating to 83 destinations – roughly 60% of its route network.

German airline giant Lufthansa said it remains upbeat about its 2026 prospects – after posting a surge in annual profits and record revenues for 2025 – but added it is currently unable to offer any financial targets given the uncertainty prompted by the Middle Eastern crisis.

Qatar Airways scheduled flight operations remain temporarily suspended due to the closure of Qatari airspace. Qatar Airways will resume operations once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announces the safe reopening of Qatari airspace by the relevant authorities.
