Cabü by the Lakes is a enchanting lake side retreat for all, from a solo traveller, family or group of friends. There is something for everyone. Set with Killykeen Forest in Co. Cavan this magical place offers “Wild Luxury, in it’s most natural form” and believe me it delivers just this. We were lucky enough to be invited down to Cabü by the Lakes to see their new 15 Cabins launching in March and whilst there we got to experience what it’s like to stay there and sample all that was on offer.
As soon as we checked in and had made ourselves familiar with our surrounding, it was first things first, The Hot tub and Sauna . We booked our slot and made our way to the Nature Spa. We checked in at the Cabü Corner where we were given a fabulous list of cocktails we could enjoy during our hot tub experience. From there we were shown to the changing rooms and provided with robes and towels. Once in the hot tub we were served our spritz, and all that was left to do was unwind and immerse ourselves to the sounds of the surrounding forest, pure bliss.

After the hot tub and sauna we thought what better way to explore our new surroundings than to hire some bicycles. We set off on the trail and took in all the beauty of the forest and lakes. We cycled down to the Jetty from where you can take a boat out or “glide across the lake in a kayak”. Unfortunately we did not not have time so that will be another activity for next time.
That evening we met up at the Sitooterie, a standout feature of Cabü by the Lakes. The Sitooterie offers a communal space perfect for relaxing, socialising. It’s design is as you would expect, true to the signature of Cabü , woodland luxury. We ordered cocktails, I was recommended their maple margarita and it didn’t disappoint. We relaxed there for a time whilst we all had a catch up on our day seated by the open fire.

The next morning after breakfast we checked in again at Cabü corner but this time it was to experience the treatments at the Nature Spa. Treatments at the nature spa include deep tissue massage, signature facials and Desse Photography Masks. I choose a deep tissue massage and it did not disappoint, I was greeted by the wonderful Belen and she went thought the treatment with me, I was then escorted to the treatment room and began my massage. It was fantastic. Whether is a was a combination of the setting , Belen, the treatment room or all 3, it was one of the best massages I have had. Sophie opted for a deep cleansing Aloe Vera Scrub Facial. Belen went through a skin analysis with Sophie and recommended the best facial for her skin. The Deep Cleansing Aloe Vera Scrub Facial was cleansing and cooling. She then finished off the facial with a neck and arm massage.

e then grabbed a coffee and Pastry from Cabü Corner and sat in the Sitooterie whilst we mapped out our journey home. Reluctantly we checked out , safe in the knowledge that it wouldn’t be long till we return again, The Lure of the new cabins is drawing me back in.
From March, 15 new cabins with the spectacular 3 bedroom Barnhouse features a Super king en suite master, an open plan kitchen space with floor to ceiling windows creating a light and airy living space.
But the highlight for me is you have your own hot tub on your terrace, Bliss.
A Two – night stays start from €570 in a woodland Cabins and from €995 in the Barnhouse with
Hot Tub, subject to season and availability. Cabü by the Lakes
