Belfast City Airport Charity Partnership Raises Over £140,000 for Air Ambulance NI

Air Ambulance NI, the only Helicopter Emergency Medical Service in Northern Ireland, has benefited from a substantial charitable contribution of over £140,000 following a two-year partnership with Belfast City Airport as its official Charity Partner.

Working alongside the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, Air Ambulance NI was founded in 2017 to provide rapid, pre-hospital critical care both at the scene and whilst transferring patients to hospital, operating 12 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Michelle Hatfield, Chief People and Marketing Officer at Belfast City Airport said: “We are incredibly proud of the funds raised for Air Ambulance NI throughout the duration of our partnership.

“Over £140,000 generated over the past two years reflects the generosity of our passengers, partners, and staff, and will help Air Ambulance NI continue to deliver vital, life-saving care across Northern Ireland.

“As an airport in the heart of the city, we are passionate about supporting causes that reflect our values and make a tangible, positive impact in our community.”

During the partnership, the Belfast City Airport team hosted and participated in a variety of fundraising activities, including football matches, coffee mornings, and terminal collections.

Its flagship initiative, Air Ambulance NI’s Belfast City Airport Runway Run, saw over 500 runners take to the runway each year for a 5K with a difference.

Colleen Milligan, Business Development and Project Manager at Air Ambulance NI, said: “Working with Belfast City Airport over the past two years has been incredible for Air Ambulance NI.

“It has allowed us to raise vital awareness of the critical, lifesaving work we do across Northern Ireland, reaching a wide audience and highlighting the importance of rapid emergency medical care.

“Alongside this, the fundraising achievements over the course of the collaboration have been outstanding, with a boost of over £140,000 helping to maintain our helicopter fleet and support our specialist medical crews.

“We are grateful to everyone at Belfast City Airport who has contributed, donated, and helped raise awareness throughout this meaningful partnership.”
