Adventure and responsible travel specialist Intrepid Travel has promoted Dr Susanne Etti to lead its newly formed Climate Department as the company doubles down on its enhanced Climate Action Plan.
The new department, which sits within the existing Purpose team, will drive the company’s accelerated decarbonisation roadmap and oversee the allocation of Intrepid’s new £1 million Climate Impact Fund, supporting practical, immediate emissions reductions across the business and its supplier network.

This follows Intrepid’s recent decision to retire its carbon offset programme in favour of direct decarbonisation investment, alongside a lifecycle-based carbon intensity reduction target designed to fast-track the company’s transition to a lower-carbon business.
As General Manager Climate, Dr Etti will lead the new team. Dr Etti’s responsibilities will include the rollout and implementation of Intrepid’s decarbonisation plan, allocation of the new Climate Impact Fund, carbon and risk reporting and driving climate advocacy within the business and broader industry.

Intrepid is recruiting a Decarbonisation Manager who will support the delivery of measurable, business-wide carbon reductions across the business and its supplier network. The Climate Department will also include a Purpose Carbon Analyst and Environmental Analyst to support with carbon reporting, with a focus on measurement and assurance.
Meegan Marshall, Chief People and Purpose Officer at Intrepid Travel said: “With more than two decades of global experience, extensive carbon reporting expertise and a strong track record of environmental advocacy, Susanne has already been instrumental in shaping Intrepid’s climate strategy and we look forward to the leadership, insights and innovation she will bring to this new role as we continue to advance our climate ambitions.”
Alongside the new climate department, Sara King will move into the newly renamed role of General Manager Impact, overseeing Intrepid’s environmental and social initiatives, as well as its B Corp certification.
Rochelle Turner will transition from her current B Corp Impact Manager role to take on the newly created position of Head of Impact, EMEA.
Ms Turner said: “I’m excited to lead the delivery of our Impact Strategy in the EMEA region and help further embed sustainability, decarbonisation, community and collaborative action into our trips and into all the ways we operate every day.”
In other appointments, Intrepid has also welcomed Elaine Learmonth to the business in the newly created position of Head of Regional Experiences. Ms Learmouth joins Intrepid with extensive experience across DMC, product management and industry, working in product development at Exodus in London, and more recently as Product and Supplier Leader at Flight Centre UK.
