Loganair, the UK’s leading regional airline, has confirmed that Chief Commercial Officer, Luke Lovegrove will step down in 2026, following a long-planned transition as he prepares to pursue new opportunities outside Scotland.
Ronnie Matheson now joins the Loganair Executive Team as Chief Commercial Officer.

The airline expressed its gratitude for Mr Lovegrove’s significant contribution and the extended notice he provided, which has enabled a smooth succession process. With two highly experienced leaders now guiding the commercial function, Loganair is well-positioned for a full and seamless handover ahead of his departure.

Mr Matheson’s aviation career began in Glasgow with British Airways in 1998, experience which spans 25 years and includes senior roles at leading aviation brands, including easyJet, Flybe, and most recently Blue Islands.
Ronnie brings a wealth of industry expertise and commercial acumen to Loganair at a pivotal moment for the airline. His leadership will be instrumental in driving Loganair’s commercial strategy and supporting its continued growth and commitment to resilient regional flying, connecting communities across the UK.
Ronnie Matheson, newly appointed Chief Commercial Officer at Loganair, said: “Having worked in partnership with Loganair a number of times throughout my career, I’ve seen first-hand the airline’s commitment to serving regional communities. I started my aviation career in Scotland over 25 years ago, so it is an honour and a privilege to return to work in Scotland to lead the Commercial function of the UK’s largest and leading regional airline. This really is a pivotal time in the regional airline sector, and I look forward to contributing to the continued success of Loganair.”
Luke Farajallah, CEO at Loganair, said: “Ronnie, who was the Chief Revenue Officer at Blue Islands, has become available sooner than anticipated, which is a positive from the situation in Jersey and one we intend taking full advantage of. To ensure a seamless transition, Ronnie will work closely with Luke Lovegrove over the coming weeks, supporting continuity and growth across our commercial function and wider business.

“Ronnie’s experience and knowledge of the Channel Islands is unsurpassed, an area he will focus on in his early weeks with the business. I am delighted to welcome Ronnie to the Loganair executive team and have no doubt his contributions will be positive as we continue to strengthen Loganair’s resilient performance.”
Most recently, Loganair announced new routes to support the people of Jersey, offering vital connectivity to the UK mainland. The new Jersey routes include Exeter, Bristol and Southampton.
Earlier this year, Loganair was ranked second in the Which? annual customer survey of short-haul airlines, achieving a 72% customer score. The airline received a five-star rating for customer service and a four-star rating for booking, boarding, and cleanliness.
