Gatwick, acquired by Global Infrastructure Partners Ltd. in 2009 after regulators sought a breakup of BAA Ltd., owner of the larger Heathrow hub, is 30 miles (48 kilometers) south of London and serves about 200 destinations, more than any other U.K. airport, according to flight schedule data provider OAG. Aer Lingus has ranked inside the top 60 airlines in the world for customer service.

The poll – by passenger rights travel tech company AirHelp – ranks Aer Lingus 57 out of 117 airlines globally.

All airlines were rated on a series of key passenger experience metrics such as on-time performance, customer opinion, and claim processing.

Virgin Atlantic and KM Malta Airlines were the top performing European airlines in the latest rankings.

Tomasz Pawliszyn, CEO of AirHelp commented: “As global travel rebounds and passenger expectations rise, the 2025 AirHelp Score reveals which airlines are soaring – and which are falling short. We believe passengers deserve more than just competitive fairs – they need transparency and reliability. The score offers a snapshot of airline performance, helping travellers make better decisions before their flight. Our mission is to empower passengers with insights into what they can expect and their rights if flights get delayed, cancelled, or overbooked.”
