The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has warmly welcomed the news that Shaikha Al Nowais has been officially appointed as the new Secretary-General of UN Tourism.
The WTTC said: “This appointment marks a significant moment for the global Travel & Tourism sector, and WTTC is confident that Shaikha Al Nowais’s leadership and vision will be instrumental in guiding the sector toward a prosperous future.
“The Travel & Tourism sector is a vital component of the global economy, contributing more than 10% to global GDP and supporting over 357 million jobs worldwide, and we look forward to working together with Shaikha Al Nowais to continue building an inclusive, sustainable, and resilient sector.
“We stand committed to supporting UN Tourism’s critical mission and are excited to cement a powerful, robust partnership under this new leadership.”
