Irish Travel Trade Embarks on Jamaica FAM Trip with Jamaica Tourism Board & APG Ireland’s Celine Duffy

In partnership with the Jamaica Tourism Board, Celene Duffy (Key Account Manager for APG Ireland) is hosting a fam trip of key travel trade to the vibrant island of Jamaica on a four-night fam that took off yesterday!

ITTN’s Katie Doyle joins Travel Counsellor Claire Maher, Kaytlyn Fitzharris of Barter’s Travel Net, Alison Clark from Club Travel, Kat Tryjankowska from Tropical Sky, Louise Kenna of Cassidy Travel’s Dundrum branch, Edel Ward from Best4Travel and Joanne Gomez from Travel Focus!

The day kicked off on a mid-morning 11.15 flight with Aer Lingus to London Heathrow where the group joined Alison from Manchester, and Kat, Kaytlyn and Joanne who flew in from Cork. To win a space on this once-in-a-lifetime fam trip, agents from around Ireland took part in a competition held earlier this month where they submitted entries to APG explaining why they should be chosen! Entries took the form of video messages, acrostic poetry, odes to the lush Caribbean island and even photographs!

Virgin Atlantic currently offers a four-times a week service to Montego Bay in Jamaica from London Heathrow, and due to a rise in demand will be offering a daily service starting March 31, 2026. This expansion includes an increased year-round schedule with extra seats and is a response to the growing demand for travel to the island from both the UK tourism market and the Jamaican diaspora, according to the Jamaica Information Service. The new daily service will operate with the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, adding 258 seats per week! Flight time is nine hours, thirty minutes and offers upper, premium economy and economy seating with a first class option coming in March!

Jamaica is famed for its undulating mountains, colourful rainforests and reef-lined beaches. Most of its all-inclusive resorts are clustered in Montego Bay which boasts British-colonial architecture, and Negril, known for its diving and snorkelling opportunities. Of course, this luscious island is most known for being the birthplace of reggae music, and its capital Kingston is home to the Bob Marley Museum, dedicated to the famous singer.

The itinerary includes visits to luxury five-star hotels across the island and boutique hotels, an experience at Rick’s Cafe, offering an alternative to Negril’s majestic seven mile beach alongside a Dunn’s River Falls Experience!
