Jean O’Sullivan Appointed CEO of Bus Éireann

Bus Éireann has named Jean O’Sullivan as its new chief executive.

The appointment follows an extensive and competitive recruitment process by the company.

Ms O’Sullivan will assume the role on November 1, succeeding Stephen Kent, who served as CEO for seven years, leaving a strong legacy of leadership, performance and service.

Since joining Bus Éireann three years ago as Chief People Officer, Ms O’Sullivan has been central to shaping the company’s People and Culture strategy, strengthening leadership across the organisation and helping to position Bus Éireann as an employer of choice.

She also played a key role in developing Horizon 28 – Our Vision for Green Growth, Bus Éireann’s five-year strategy focused on sustainable transport and organisational growth.

Miriam Hughes, Chair of the Board of Bus Éireann, said: “We are delighted to welcome Jean O’Sullivan as our new Chief Executive Officer. Jean’s strategic leadership, people-first approach and clear vision for the future will be invaluable as Bus Éireann continues to deliver safe, reliable and sustainable public transport across Ireland.

“On behalf of the Board, I also want to thank Stephen Kent for his exceptional leadership and dedication over the past seven years. Stephen’s ambition and belief in the Bus Éireann team have left a lasting mark on the company and on public transport nationally.”

Jean O’Sullivan, incoming CEO, said: “It is a privilege to be appointed CEO of Bus Éireann at such a pivotal time. I look forward to working with colleagues, the Board, stakeholders and communities across Ireland to build on our strong foundations, driving innovation, enhancing customer experience and delivering sustainable, inclusive transport solutions for the future.”
