The extension, which will have no impact on the day-to-day operations of the hotel, will include 143 new bedrooms bringing the total capacity to 372 rooms. The project will also include a complete refurbishment and redesign of the hotel’s lobby, restaurant and bar areas, and will increase Jurys’ employee numbers by 22.

As part of the construction project, seven meeting rooms will be constructed on the ground floor within a new conference centre, with the largest room catering for up to 90 delegates. In addition, a new gym will be constructed and a Costa Coffee bar will be installed.

The investment in Jurys Inn Islington follows a €31 million refurbishment programme currently being rolled out across the Group, which will see Christchurch and Cork benefit from a full redesign of all bedrooms and bathrooms in Q1 2014, while the Galway hotel will complete a redesign of its reception, restaurant and bar areas in December following a €1.5 million investment in the refurbishment of its bedrooms earlier this year.

John Brennan, Chief Executive, Jurys Inn, said: “Our Islington hotel continues to perform very strongly, and, as part of our strategy to invest in our estate and provide business and leisure customers with the best hotel experience in the best location for their needs, we are delighted to ‘break ground’ on this exciting project. This expanded and redesigned hotel will showcase a new direction for the Group and a new, fresh and contemporary look and feel that I look forward to seeing develop over the next 12 months.”

In the past year, Jurys Inn has also invested €2 million in new software and technology upgrades across its 32 hotels in Ireland, the UK and the Czech Republic, significantly enhancing its management system capabilities and the services offered to over three million guests who stay in its hotels every year.

Jurys Inn Hotel Group employs 2,000 people across 32 city centre hotels in Ireland, the UK and the Czech Republic.
