Azul Takes Over as World’s Most Punctual Airline as Global Flight Cancellation Rate Drops Significantly

Brazilian carrier Azul has taken over top spot in the list of most punctual global airlines, according to latest monthly on-time performance research by aviation analyst Cirium.

Global flight cancellations dropped by a significant 34%, according to Cirium, which paved the way for new OTP leaders to emerge in August. SAS Scandinavian Airlines took over as best performing European carrier, with an 87.2% reading, more than six points higher than nearest rivals LOT Polish Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Norwegian and Vueling – which were all in the top five European performers.

In North America, Delta Air Lines remained the most punctual carrier in August, but there was widespread improvement with American Airlines and Southwest Airlines also showing significant improvements.
