It has been confirmed that the fee for the ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) visa – necessary for holidaymakers to have before entering the US – will almost double to $40 from the end of this month.
While widely anticipated, the move will become reality from September 30 and will see the price for the visa – which lasts two years or until one’s passport expires – jump from $21 currently to $40.

However, all applications made before September 30 will still carry the $21 fee, with the new $40 price only applying to applications made after September 30.
