KLM Expansion at Cork Airport Hailed as Further Boost for Inbound Tourism

News of Dutch airline KLM expanding its services at Cork Airport, this coming winter, has been hailed as a potential welcome boost for inbound tourism for Ireland.

KLM has had a presence at Cork Airport for 25 years. The airline has just announced the addition of a third daily service from Cork to Amsterdam Schiphol this winter – a move which will give passengers out of Ireland access to the Dutch carrier’s network of more than 160 worldwide destinations.

Cork is the fastest growing airport in Ireland and was recently named best regional airport in Europe. Cork Airport Named ‘Best Small Airport in Europe’ for Third Time – ittn.ie

But, the move could be just as important for Ireland’s inbound traffic.

The Netherlands is the island of Ireland’s 7th-largest source market and 9th-largest source of overseas revenue.

Furthermore, Tourism Ireland research states that the South-West of Ireland is the most popular region for Dutch tourists and holidaymakers to visit, outside of Dublin. KLM also brings visitors from further afield thanks to its Amsterdam hub.
