Webinar Recap

Eurowings, who are part of the Lufthansa Group, offer just under 150 routes to a large network across European and the Middle East. As Dusseldorf is Eurowings’ largest aircraft base, onward travel from a Dusseldorf city break, is a great option for customers.

The A319 services the Dublin – Dusseldorf route and Eurowings’ customers can avail of Lufthansa’s Miles & More Loyalty Programme.

When holidaymakers arrive in Dusseldorf Airport, they can expect a bright and airy space with impressive architecture. 62 airlines fly to 165 destinations across 49 countries from Dusseldorf and the airport saw 20 million passengers pass through in 2024. For customers with early flights, both the Maritim & Sheraton Hotels have direct access to the terminal. Dusseldorf Airport boasts 6 lounges and 60 bars, cafes and restaurants that are all open 365 days per year. The airport is well connected by rail and road networks and the journey to the city centre takes only 10 mins by taxi or car.

Dusseldorf, meaning “the village located along the Dussel creek”, is located along the banks of the Rhine River in the west of Germany. The city is renowned for its history, art, culture, food and, of course, beer. Altbier is locally brewed and is a favourite amongst locals and tourists. Dusseldorf’s old town is located in the centre of this walkable city and is brimming with historic buildings and cobblestoned streets and it is here where the Carlsplatz Markt, an open-air food market, can be found.

The city is home to six major arts museums and the Art:Walk48 pass is recommended for all art-lovers visiting the city. It costs only €25 and allows access to every single museum in 48 hours. The Dusseldorf Card is also recommended which gives visitors free public transportation as well as discounts in numerous museums and on city tours. For those wanting to venture further, the new Dusseldorf Card Plus card, which costs €30 per day, offers travel on all public transport within a range of 2 hours from Dusseldorf and even includes some Dutch cities.

Dusseldorf is known for it’s Christmas Markets, but holidaymakers can expect numerous funfairs in the Summer months and Japan Day on 24 May. The city is home to 15,000 Japanese who live in and around Düsseldorf and characterise the vibrant Little Tokyo where Japanese food, art and culture is celebrated.
