Irish Hotels’ Revenue Success Highlighted in SiteMinder Survey

A new report from SiteMinder, the world’s leading hotel distribution and revenue platform, highlights the success of Irish hotels in driving revenue through direct website bookings and the adoption of dynamic revenue management practices.

The report, SiteMinder’s Hotel Booking Trends, drawing on more than 125 million online hotel reservations – the largest volume of hotel reservations from any single technology platform – reveals that for the sixth consecutive year, hotel websites were the second-highest revenue-generating channel for Irish hotels, behind Booking.com, a distinction unique to Ireland and Spain.

This consistent performance is significant in light of SiteMinder’s finding that hotel websites generated an average of €476 per booking globally in 2024, outperforming OTAs (€293), global distribution systems (€348), and wholesalers, DMCs, and tour operators combined (€409).

Additionally, SiteMinder’s report underscores Ireland’s leadership in pricing rooms based on demand – a cornerstone practice in dynamic revenue management. In 2024, Irish hotels achieved a €78 difference between the most expensive night of the week, Friday (€322), and the most affordable, Sunday (€244). This gap placed Ireland ahead of other leading destinations like the US (€62 gap) and Australia (€50 gap) for price variability.

SiteMinder’s VP of ecosystem and strategic partnerships, James Bishop, says the findings demonstrate how Irish hotels continue to effectively capitalise on the demand of travellers as well as their growing tendency to seek out hotel websites—and spend more when they do.

“For years, Irish hotels have invested in high-quality, high-converting booking engines, and the results speak for themselves. When booking directly, travellers tend to choose higher-value rooms, stay longer, and add extras—each of which presents an incredible opportunity for hoteliers to offer exclusive deals.

This certainly doesn’t mean local hoteliers should disregard third-party channels in 2025; they continue to offer unique and unmatched reach, as well as simplicity, as evidenced by their continued dominance in each one of the Top 12 lists of hotel booking revenue-makers worldwide. But what our findings highlight is the importance of hotels delivering an easy booking experience that comes with smooth payments and strong security, something that Irish hotels continue to excel at.”
