OneWorld Named ‘Best Airline Alliance’ for 12th Consecutive Year

OneWorld has been named ‘Best Airline Alliance’ by corporate travel magazine Business Traveller for the 12th consecutive year.

The award ceremony, hosted by news and business TV presenter Ben Thompson at The Steel Yard in London, saw Paul Noon, OneWorld Director of Business Transformation, collect the award on behalf of the alliance.

A fixture of the business travel and hospitality calendar for more than 30 years, the Business Traveller awards are voted for by readers of the magazine, with the results authenticated by an independent auditing company, and are widely recognised as the market’s benchmark for excellence.

OneWorld member airlines were praised throughout the evening, with two alliance members taking home seven top awards.

Qatar Airways led the way with four award wins, securing ‘Best Long-Haul Airline’, ‘Best Business Class’, ‘Best Middle Eastern Airline’ and ‘Best Inflight Food and Beverage’, as readers praised the airline’s premium products and services both on the ground and in the air.

Founding OneWorld airline, British Airways, took off with three award wins, being named ‘Best Short-Haul Carrier’ and ‘Best Frequent Flyer Programme’, while its iconic First Class lounge, The Concorde Room in Heathrow Terminal 5, was named ‘Best Airport Lounge’.

Nat Pieper, OneWorld CEO, said: “We are honoured to be named as the Best Airline Alliance for the 12th year running by the readers of Business Traveller.

“The past 12 months have been extremely exciting for us here at oneworld, as we celebrated our 25th anniversary and opened our first-ever branded lounges.

“I would like to thank our loyal customers across the globe who have flown with our member airlines, celebrated with us, and visited our lounges. You have been a key part of our journey over the past 25 years and your support has made us the premium alliance we are today.”
