Delta Air Lines has signed up as official airline partner of Birmingham City Football Club, showing once again the lure of big name owners to big name sponsors.
The League 1 club is garnering a lot of positive PR on the back of NFL/American Football legend Tom Brady becoming a part-owner of the club. The team’s recent match with Wrexham was pitted as “the Hollywood Derby” given the ownership of the two clubs; with Wrexham famously owned by acting stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
According to Delta, by partnering with Birmingham City, the airline will expand its portfolio into the UK, “further connecting the world and our customers through the shared passion of sport and competition.”
“Birmingham City Football Club is an important part of the fabric of England’s second-largest city,” said Matteo Curcio, Delta’s senior vice president for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India. “We’re excited to be part of the club’s storytelling as they work towards the highest levels of football.”
Fans will be able to see the Delta brand on the players’ shirts and across the team’s digital properties.
Delta has been a longtime supporter of sport in the United States and a partner with a roster of impressive individuals, athletes, organisations and teams.
