From a Scarlet Night to a Shore Thing in Amsterdam – Virgin Voyages Fam

ITTN’s Shane Cullen, along with members of the Irish travel trade, was hosted by Matt Lebbern (Sales Manager – Europe & New Markets for Virgin Voyages) on a 5-night “A Virgin Celebration Voyage” which travelled from Portsmouth to Amsterdam and Bruges before returning to the UK.

Ladies in Red (& Gents) – Scarlet Night Onboard Resilient Lady

To be honest, everyone on board made a themed effort with every shade of scarlet, crimson,  ruby and cherry on show for Scarlet Night onboard the Resilient Lady.

The celebration rippled through the ship reaching the rooftop. Here guests were treated to a fully immersive celebration that recreated a fabled love between the mysterious Goddess of the Sea and the Sailor who won her heart, culminating in an epic, “can’t miss” pool party at the Aquatic Club.

A “Shore Thing” – Holland Countryside Bike Tour

From $70 per person, this Shore Excursion lasts about four hours. Starting in North Amsterdam the group began the cycling journey through the serene countryside that is quintessentially Netherlands. Starting with a short ferry transfer from the pier, the cyclists peddled along North Amsterdam where picturesque countryside lined the path.

The group journeyed through the winding wide bike paths soaking up the serenely idyllic Holland scenery, sprawling green fields, traditional Dutch farms, fields of sheep and cows, small fishing villages as well as picturesque windmills. Along the way, we paused to catch our breath and hear our guide share a history lesson or an anecdote. There were plenty of “Instagrammable” moments and a coffee break for a caffeine boost.

You need to have a decent level of fitness to complete the tour – there is a good hour-long cycle before the first break and expect about three hours of cycling and it does require a decent amount of energy and self-propelled motion.

If this isn’t for you, the alternative on offer was a canal cruise and Heineken Factory Tour and Tasting, ensuring every level of energy or activity is catered for.

From Vinyl to Videogaming & There’s Even a Tattoo Parlour

If heading ashore isn’t your thing, there are plenty of very imaginative and trendy spots on the ship to keep you entertained.

There’s the tattoo parlour and the video gaming Arcade, the Voyage Vinyl record shop and Private Karaoke to name a few.

Plus, to burn off the calories, there are fitness and well-being classes (group classes are free/included in the guest fare) and sports courts to keep you moving. Or, if weather allows, just chill by the pools and enjoy the sunshine.

Stay tuned to ITTN to find out about the fantastic food and nightlife onboard Virgin Voyages’ Resilient Lady.
