Ibiza and Mallorca Ban Overnight Alcohol Sales in Bid to Combat Antisocial Behaviour

The popular tourist islands of Ibiza and Mallorca have banned the purchase of alcohol in shops between the hours of 9:30pm and 8am, as Spain’s Balearic Islands crack down on antisocial behaviour and promote responsible tourism.

The move is an extension of laws that originally were introduced in 2020, and the new ban will remain in place until 2027. The Spanish government is spending €16m on the rule – with money going towards security, fines and enforcement, inspections and advertising and promotion.

Anyone found violating the rule on shop bought booze and on-street casual drinking (outside of private dwellings, bars and restaurants) will be fined anything between €500 and €3,000.
