Radisson Doubles-Down on Net Zero Commitment

Radisson Hotel Group has said it is making strong progress on its commitment to becoming a net zero emissions generator by 2050, despite its current busy global expansion which will see it significantly strengthen its presence in northern Africa and the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia.

The hotel giant’s newly published 2023 Responsible Business Report – which comes 35 years after Radisson’s first environmental policy – shows the group has cut its carbon footprint per square metre by 35% since 2019. Radisson is looking to decouple carbon emissions from business growth and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 46% by 2030.

A key priority for Radisson Hotel Group remains looking beyond its company borders to play a bigger role in the hospitality industry by encouraging hotels and travellers around the world on their sustainability journey.

Radisson Hotel Group said it is fully committed to the roll out of trusted sustainability labels in all its hotels and is proceeding with the roll-out of the Hotel Sustainability Basics (HSB). Currently 50% of the Group’s hotels are in the process of verification and 179 hotels are fully HSB verified, whereas another 165 hotels are certified with an eco-label.

“Sustainability is a core part of our Strategic 5-year Plan and is closely connected to other key initiatives, driving our vision as a meaningful brand for guests, owners, and talent. We continue to invest in ESG and focus on cost efficiencies, as well as the revenue opportunities of being a responsible business. Together with key stakeholders and associations, we believe in driving and growing sustainable travel and making sustainability an intrinsic part of our 10 leading brands,” said Federico J. González, Executive Vice Chairman, Radisson Hotel Group.
