Marking the Return of American Airlines’ Dublin-Charlotte Service in Dublin Airport

ITTN’s Shane Cullen and members of the travel trade and travel media were invited to the first flight of American Airlines’ Dublin-Charlotte service in 2024. This expands the American Airlines and British Airways summer schedule for Ireland.

American Airlines

American Airlines flies daily between Dublin and Charlotte, Dallas-Forth Worth as well as Philadelphia and Chicago (from 6 June). These are scheduled on Boeing 777/787 aircraft with the elevated Flagship Business Class Cabin, all of which have aisle access. Tara, speaking of these aircraft, also highlighted their reduced environmental impact – they have better fuel efficiency and emit less CO2 emissions.

American Airlines from Dublin connects via these hubs to its numerous destinations across North America, most notably with firm favourites for the Irish traveller such as Las Vegas, Orlando and Nashville.

American Airlines operates the youngest, most efficient fleet amongst the US network carriers with the airline offering customers the largest network of any US airline and averages 5,300 departures daily.

American Airlines – Broad Premium Offering

Tara highlighted the broad array of experiences on offer with American Airlines. Flagship Business and Flagship First will be available, typically, on the longer domestic or transatlantic and transpacific. First and Business class are on the shorter domestic flights. In addition, the offering for customers includes Premium Economy as well as Main Cabin Extra (e.g. additional legroom).

Tara pointed out, that besides the direct Orlando flight, Orlando via Charlotte offers the fastest connection out of Dublin and despite the very short connection time between flights (c. 45 minutes) she explains that this is very doable – you are travelling as a domestic traveller and will have cleared US Precustoms in Dublin Airport.

British Airways

BA operates more than 40 weekly flights from Dublin to London Heathrow and connects to 31 destinations in North America from Heathrow. The Award Winning Club Suite is being rolled out continually with 77% of the fleet upgrade has been completed and Club Suite is scheduled on flights from London Heathrow and Austin, Denver, Las Vegas, Nashville, Newark, New York, JFK, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Toronto and Vancouver this summer.
