Delta Air Lines has been named ‘Airline of the Year’ by aviation publication Air Transport World (ATW).
The award was presented in recognition of Delta’s “outstanding operational performance, commitment to safety and premium customer service”.
“This is a tremendous honour and a direct reflection of the dedication of our 100,000 people worldwide,” said Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Air Lines. “Through our nearly 100-year history, it’s our people that continuously set us apart and their care and professionalism that will take us to even greater heights as we soar into the future.”
The 50th annual ATW Awards sponsored by CFM International, will be presented at a gala dinner in Dubai on Friday May 31, ahead of the 80th IATA AGM and World Air Transport Summit.
Established in 1974 to recognise excellence across airline operations, the ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards are given to global organisations that have distinguished themselves through outstanding performance and superior service. Awardees are selected by a panel of editors and analysts at ATW, Routes, Aviation Week and CAPA.
“We look forward to celebrating these highly deserving winners, shining a light on all the good that is achieved through air transport connectivity and the people in this industry who work so hard every day,” Karen Walker, Group Editor-in-Chief of ATW, said. “Delta’s success is a truly gigantic team effort, but it also takes exceptional visionary and motivational leadership.”
