St. David’s Day Celebration in Roe & Co Distillery with the Welsh Government Office in Ireland

The Welsh Government Office in Ireland hosted a vibrant event to commemorate St. David’s Day, the national day of Wales, last night in Roe & Co Distillery.

Guests were warmly greeted with a spread of authentic Welsh food and drinks upon arrival. From the flavorful Glamorgan sausage (a traditional Welsh vegetarian sausage made with cheese, leeks, and breadcrumbs) to glasses of a Welsh Classic cocktail made from Manzanilla Sherry, attendees got to experience the rich flavors of Wales while toasting to the spirit of the occasion.

Jane Hutt MS, Minister for Social Justice and Chief Whip, commenced the evening by drawing parallels between Ireland and Wales: ”We in Wales deeply value the strength of the relationship with Ireland and as a government, we agreed and committed to publish the Ireland Wales Shared Statement and Joint Action Plan back in 2021, It is so important to us and we remain fully committed to the statement.”

She highlighted Wales’ unique position as the first country in the world to have legislated for the Sustainable Development Goals through the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act as part of their commitment to being a ”globally responsible Wales” and their focus on there Net Zero Wales Plan to create a ”greener more sustainable future for everyone”

”Wales was the first country in the world to legislate this way and now other countries have shown an interest in following our lead, We want to use our St.Davids Day celebrations today as an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to being that outward-facing and welcoming nation”

One of The highlights of the evening was undoubtedly the performance by the Dublin Welsh Male Voice Choir, Their enchanting rendition of traditional Welsh songs captivated everyone in the chic, private room at Roe and Co Distillery. The evening was not only a celebration of St. David’s Day but also of the enduring bond between the peoples of Wales and Ireland.
