Storm force winds and snow across Northern Ireland have forced the closure of the runway at George Best Belfast City Airport this morning, while Belfast International Airport has warned of flight delays today (Friday 22nd March) and tomorrow. Although wet and windy, Dublin Airport is operating as normal.
Belfast City Airport said at 06.30: “While the airport remains open, George Best Belfast City Airport will ‘Snow Close’ the runway this morning until an estimated time of 08.30, due to a persistant wet snow fall. Passengers are advised to check with their airline before travelling this morning. The airport will be providing updates throughout the day on twitter, @belfastcity_air and on Facebook www.facebook.com/belfastcityairport.
Belfast International Airport said: “Heavy snow and rain is expected to cause disruption in Northern Ireland on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd March which could cause some delays to flights. Passengers are advised to check with their airline for the latest information on their flight. The airport website will also have information on flights.”
Flights have also been suspended to and from Leeds Bradford Airport due to adverse weather conditions.
