Passengers travelling to and from the UK are not expected to be faced with flight disruptions, of any sort, from a planned strike by the country’s aviation regulator.
Workers within the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) have voted in favour of industrial action over a dispute about pay conditions. The move could result in the CAA’s first ever strike action.
About 240 of the CAA’s 1,500 employee base were balloted on strike action by trade union Prospect.
The CAA, which has reportedly offered a 5% pay rise, said the action is by “a modest proportion” of staff and that it does not anticipate any disruption to flights.
Prospect said its members in the CAA took a pay cut during the pandemic crisis, but that the goodwill has not been returned by the regulator.
