More than 60% – or two thirds – of Irish holidaymakers have yet to book their annual holiday, for 2023, according to Click&Go’s most recent Travel Sentiment Survey.
The survey examined answers from 2,654 respondents.
Crucially, it found that 88% of the respondents that haven’t booked still plan to book a 2023 overseas holiday.
Other findings include: 58% of respondents want to travel in the summer (July to September) followed by 39% in the autumn months (October to December) and 3% in 2024.
It also showed 68% want to go on a sun holiday, 17% a city break, 8% a cruise holiday and the remaining 7% are planning on either USA, Worldwide, Disneyland Paris or a visit to family and friends.
Paul Hackett, CEO of Click&Go, said: “It is surprising that people are leaving it this late to book their summer holidays. The survey was conducted in June and 58% are still hoping for a deal for July, August and September. Unfortunately, prices are unlikely to fall so we’d urge people to book now.”
He continued: “We have some last minute deals but the longer you leave it to book the more expensive it will be.”
