New Research: Royal Caribbean Find 80% Of Tiktok Users Would Book Holiday Destination At Random

Study finds 80% of TikTok users in Ireland claim they either have or would let TikTok choose their next holiday destination at random. A recent viral TikTok filter saw users’ next holiday location randomly chosen via a destination generator, hinting at a new ‘spontaneous travel’ trend. More than half of Ireland (51%) agreed that cruising is a good option for last-minute travel.

A recent survey commissioned by Royal Caribbean International has revealed that people in Ireland are becoming more spontaneous with their travel plans, including booking last-minute holidays and letting fate decide their getaway destination. In fact, 80% of those who use TikTok in Ireland said they either have or would let the platform choose their next holiday destination for them.

The poll results are in line with a current social media craze in which a popular TikTok filter chooses a user’s travel location for them, removing all of their control. In terms of last-minute vacations, 51% of those who felt impulsive agreed that cruising was a good option, and 23% said they wanted to visit multiple locations in one trip.

According to the research, 50% of Irish citizens are interested in traveling with their partner, 31% choose short-haul vacations, and 41% bring their kids along on their spontaneous trips.
It shows that interest in impulsive travel crosses age ranges, beyond the Gen Z tendency. According to the study, 21% of people aged 35 to 44 and 30% of those aged 25 to 34 stated they would let the filter choose their location at random.
A whopping 16 percent of respondents claimed that they will plan their upcoming vacation in under a week.
